Diaspora Strategies in Transition States: Prospects and Opportunities for Armenia

In a report entitled Diaspora Strategies in Transition States: Prospects and Opportunities for Armenia, presented to the Armenian government in 2011, professors Rob Kitchin and Mark Boyle of the National University of Ireland listed the following as Priority No. 1 for Armenia in its efforts to enhance cooperation with the Diaspora: "Armenia needs to continue to work collaboratively with the diaspora so to harness to the resources, energy and self-organizing capacities of the diaspora. Its new and strong institutions capacities notwithstanding, it must work find a way to bring its new diaspora planning infrastructure into partnership with the diaspora. Policy Forum Armenia (PFA) which has hosted two conferences thus far in Yerevan (2009) and Washington (2010) provides an important vehicle for dialogue" (p. 34).
